Cool The Best Cell Phone Ever, the NVIDIA APX 2500, A True iPhone Killer

High-quality gaming. Play and record 720p video. Full web browser with support for Flash and other popular codecs. Gorgeous touchscreen. Runs on a revamped version of Windows Mobile 6, complete with a redesigned UI and unique features. Accelerometer. Mobile TV. Plays every popular video and audio codec. GPS. 3G. 12 megapixel camera. HDMI port. 750MHz mobile processor. The fastest portable video card, the NVIDIA GoForce 5500. Full developer support. NVIDIA claims it gets over 10 hours of high-definition video playback and up to 100 hours of audio. Oh yeah, and it's a phone.

You know you want one. I'm really surprised at all the features NVIDIA put into this phone and the insane battery life claims. Let's just hope it's on a decent network and doesn't cost too much. This thing looks really promising, and if it's priced decently I'll probably really consider buying one after it releases. By the way, NVIDIA said it should come out by Q2 of the year, which means it should come out by June or July.

I don't like how when you click on something in the menu (which is landscape), the thing you clicked on loads up in portrait mode, so you have to rotate the phone every time. Also, if this is going to be used for games, you'll have to carry a controller around to play them. I don't know if I like this or not yet.

I'm pretty sure it has Wi-Fi. If it doesn't, who cares? 3G is going to be amazingly fast anyway.

Not if you don't live in a major city. No 3G.

Also, it better be an open platform. Or else it will turn out lame like the iPhone.

Yeah, I'll probably pass on it if NVIDIA doesn't add slide-out controls or something. Then again, even if it's just a touchscreen it'll still be the best phone on the market (which phones are good for gaming, anyway?). Gaming on it with slide-out controls or something would be a major plus, though and would probably be the thing that would make me buy it. Who knows, the touchscreen might work fine for playing games, though I'd doubt it. I wish Engadget took a video of Quake III running on the phone.

The Endgadget article is what made me think that NVIDIA wanted to put games on it. But if I'm going to play a game, I need buttons, I can't just blindly press on a screen.

It's the size of two . That's a big downside to it, though Engadget said that a NVIDIA rep told them the final version will be simmer and better-looking.

Of course that's what the NVIDIA rep said. They also say "This is the dawn of the second personal computer revolution" (Jen-Hsun Huang, president and CEO of NVIDIA)

Looks very sexy, but the size is a turn-off for me at the moment, but still very tempting.

That is going to cost more then anyone is willing to pay for a phone.
what the **** do I need an hdmi port in a phone for?

I think manufacturers are seriously forgetting that the point of a phone is to make calls. a couple of features cool but this is just overdoing it. AND it's the size of a cinder block.

i'll stick to my outdated k850i

I personally like carrying around something that can pretty much do anything. Yeah, the HDMI port is ridiculous to have on a phone, but everything else is pretty much everything I've ever wanted in a phone and more. NVIDIA never gave any info on the pricing, but I wouldn't expect it to go over $800. I'd probably buy one once it reaches the $500 pricepoint.

You are joking right?

I hardly see this as a phone. It looks like manufacturers don't know when a phone isn't a phone. The features here are pretty ridiculous. If someone wanted such an assortment of much features in a compact space, they'd go all out and buy a Laptop, not a phone.

For once, I agree. I want a phone with camera that can text message and call. Thats it. Although as an avid gamer and gadget-lover, a phone for me is just a phone. There was one point when I would get a new phone every 3-6 months, since then i realised i use them for about a week, then just use the phone part for the rest of the time i own it. As long as the battery life is good, it can call and has a camera I'm good with it.

The only reason I actually like the have a camera is because there are some moments you have to catch and your phone is all you have on you. I don't need a 100 megapixel one either, 2MP is enough.

Lame? Have you seen the constant-growing homebrew scene?

I'd love to see the battery in this thing, if its capable of running 720p video capture, touchscreen, wifi and graphics like that.

That phone has a HDMI port? o_O

Also $800 isn't so bad, some Nokias here in England go up to the £500 range ($1000)

the n96 is going to go for $700 at my local store and that doesn't even do a quarter of what this phone does. if it goes for less then $1000 i'll eat my hat.

How may of you could say you don't carry around a PSP or DS (I never did...) or a portable media player (I used to before I got my iPhone) along with your cellphone? It's not too ridiculous to have all these great features in one device that you'll probably carry around all the time.

I'd rather carry around a camera that is meant to be a camera, then a phone that happens to have a camera in it.

This is just a bunch of bullsh~t.

Yeah, but the camera in this phone isn't some crappy 1.3 megapixel camera you find in most phone (and 2 megapixel in the high-end ones). It has a 12 megapixel camera, which'll be better than the camera most of you guys use.

So agreed......

I use a phone for calls....

Infact, I hardly use a phone. I prefer to talk face to face....

I have 500mins and 100txt's in my mobile contract..... I never use anywhere near that. Maybe 20 texts in a month if I'm lucky.....
