KTFT Makes 7.9mm Thick Mobile, LG Buys KTFT
ou thought the RAZR was slim? Pah. You perceived the wonderfully specified S50 from xcutemobile to be malnourished? Nonsense. You probably even believed VK’s D800 was on hunger strike? Pants. KTF Technologies is the new skinny mobile king with a handset that now looks destined for the UK…
Looking like a bulimic supermodel on the Atkins’ Diet, the company’s EV-K100 is the world’s thinnest mobile phone at just 7.9mm. It does actually weigh more than VK’s D800 being 60g as opposed to 48g but it packs in a lot more features.
For a start the K100 is remarkably a 3G handset and somehow squashes in a 1.3 megapixel digital camera. It has a proportionately large 1.8in display and packs an impressive 165MB of onboard memory.
Now being an Englishman well versed in the cynicism of the European market I had already tightly folded my arms and adopted a defensive stance in preparation for the release details. Surely enough I discovered that KTF only had plans to launch the model in that mobile phone Mecca also known as South Korea. Then everything changed.
European friendly manufacturer of most things LG Electronics out of the blue announced it has agreed to purchase KTF and it is no secret LG has been pushing every mobile it can make at we potato lovers. Clearly, the K100 would be a pearl in its offerings and apparently we can now expect to see it on our cold and grey shores sometime around Q3.
More definitive details than this are sparse but the prospect of a Korean handset designer unexpectedly being made to release its models in Britain gives me all kinds of tingly feelings in delicate areas. And you know exactly what I’m talking about…
