What is better between the two?

Don't have an external esata port.. might get one.. I'll just use those external HDs for backup purposes.. So what's better? or suggest one..

its got USB too
the first one requires external power
the second one is one that doesnt need external power, so its more portable. Its powered by USB

aw.. More expensive. What is the difference of Pro and Desktop? im ok with 320gb. With the other one, the pro, you could switch to firewire400 from esata/usb.

you need 2 usb's in the second one to power up completely with a hub or laptop.. that's a let down.. people tried it with one usb at the back usb ports (I/O ports) desktop computer not laptop, it worked because there is more power there. Didn't work with one usb with a laptop. Ill just get a flash drive for the portability. The external HDs are for backup.

They say pro is better. The 320gb pro is $120. The 500gb desktop is $150. I don't really need that much memory/space.
