Default Ps2 deadly scraping or loud clicking noise - *NEW PROBLEM*

Hi, whenever i turn my ps2 on it makes a loud clicking noise. I opened it up and started it. I can see that the laser is almost vibrating as if stuck but can also move down, just not up. It seems very strange and was wondering if anybody knew a fix ?

I very much doubt it, considering the laser wont move properly. Actually it doesnt move down either. just a tiny bit up.

Oh, I have a similar problem I spent a while trying to fix it but I just ended up giving up and leaving it to collect dust.

it may be the game cuz i've had that happen a few times. but if it isn't your disc drive maybe dying.

You probably just need to calibrate your lens so it outputs more voltage. I did this on a gamecube and it worked fine. There is a risk though, you can burn out your lens but you should be fine if you don't overkill.

I had this problem when I had a Silver Slim version PS2 I started using Swap Magic and then my lens got all messed up and started clicking. It would read games but after I took the game out and looked at the DVD it would be all scratched up in full circular rings!!! They were so bad they would never play again.
