Default PSX on PC?

Would it work if I bought used PS1 games off eBay (authentic, not burned) and put them in my computer's DVD drive and used a PSX-to-PC USB controller cable to play my games on the go with my laptop?

So the emulator will recognize the disc when it's in the laptop and it'll function at full speed just like it would if I were to play it on my PS2?

Alright, I'll try to find a good PSX to PC controller adapter. Any suggestions on that?

Maxfire Blaze 2. I'm pretty sure it's made by a company called MadCatz.

And you need a good laptop as well it depends on the specs of the computer not just the emulator so dont expect if it runs 100% speed

Those specs are way over what you need anyway. Single core 1.6GHz will run just fine, and you really can't find anything that slow anymore anyway.

Yeah, I have a dual-core 1.6GHz processor with 1GB of RAM and a crappy video card. My laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A100VA3 to be exact.

Thanks! I just bought one off eBay. It was a little more expensive than you said but I'm desperate to play my favorite PSX games again. I just hope I can get express post shipping...

It kind of defeats the purpose of "on the go"

I got my controller converter from Game for a tenner. Cut a hole in my PC case the same size as the controller port, plugged it in inside and added a fully functional Playstation controller port to my PC. One of the best things I've ever bought for my PC./

you just rip them from the cd and they are compressed to the memory stick. memory sticks are cheap.
you can get a new psp+ a 2gb mem stick for less than 200$

re: controllers:
There's a cheapo $5-$10 Radio Shack DualShock adaptor that works wonderfully, even with vibration.

Well I got the emulator + bios + some random video DLL thing that I've all accomplished with the power of Google and I tried some free ROM off Emulator Zone (not commercial) to test it and it seemed to work (with the keyboard).

If the ROM gets to the title screen and then you go past press start does that mean the emulator is functioning properly or could there still be problems with the BIOS/Video file or whatever? I just tested it on that freeware 1MB rom and I didn't really go much past the title screen.

Never tried a Test ROM, try with a regular PSX CD and see how it runs

You must have been doing something wrong. I've never had a problem with ePSXe.
...well, it doesn't currently run at all on my computer, but other than that.
