Why did you buy an actual snes? Unless your looking into collecting, just buying a snes to play some great old school games is actually really expensive. You would be better off with a emulator. Buy a snes controller, and a USB adapter for it.
For example, these are average ebay prices for some of the best snes games if you dont already know. Harvest Moon - $65 Earthbound - $60 Chrono Trigger - $50 Castlevania Dracula X - $50 Mario RPG - $40 Yoshis Island - $20 Zelda - $20 Mario World - $15 DK Country 1 - $10 DK Country 2 - 15 DK Country 3 - $20 And if you are collecting, you might as well not waist time on getting carts alone, go for CIB.

Illusion of Time/Gaia is a great game. It plays a lot like zelda.
I used to have a complete copy, with the maps and everything, and then I lost the maps, then the booklet, then the box... and at the moment I can't find the cartridge... If you like puzzlers, then the Dr. Mario/tetris double cart is a must, and has fantastic 2 player, as well as any of the street fighter 2 games that were made. |

Yeah, with an emulator, you don't get the fun of having to blow out every cartridge you get. And who wouldn't miss the good old days of losing your save games because the internal battery died? And if you didn't find it fun to find an outlet for the big ass power brick, you're freaking nuts.

Playing a Emu is like drinking a Coke with High Fructose Corn Syrup...And playing a real snes is like drinking a Coke with pure cane sugar. The cane sugar really taste alot better...

The SNES has RF, so I'm going to use a modulator and go composite video/audio out. Then from there, I'll go composite video to VGA. What would be some adequate cables for going composite --> VGA.

EDIT: Oh, and composite to VGA adapters aren't cheap. It's not just a simple cable. The composite signal doesn't have enough data for VGA, so it has to be rebuilt. You're looking at at least $40.

I've already got a modulator though. But I do have a 64 as well.
So it looks like I'll have to spend a little money. What's the cheapest solution to getting composite video --> VGA?

As for the converter. Start scouting the internet. eBay, Amazon and Overstock should be the first place you look. Search for about an hour, and pick the best deal you find, as that'll probably be the best one that you will find. Also, remember, the converter will look like a box, not just a cable. If you see something like this, it isn't the right one. http://cgi.ebay.com/For-Laptop-VGA-t...QQcmdZViewItem EDIT: When you find the converter, post a link for me, as I'm looking for one too. Some dude was giving one away a few weeks ago, but I was too late. I was SO PISSED.

Getting an adapter is much more expensive and will be much more of a hassle than gettign a video input card for your PC.
This should do the trick. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16815100120 Has an input port with a cable to connect composite into it. Then audio cable goes into your "line in" on your sound card. $17 with shipping.
