I have a phat PS2 SCPH-30001 that has an Apple mod chip installed in it. Somehow the clip on the motherboard where the controller port ribbon connects to got broken. So the PS2 works, but no controller ports. I've considered soldering the controller port ribbon directly into the clip but I dont know if that would work. I've looked at buying a new mobo, or a whole system with bad disc drive (since my drive works) off ebay or something and possibly using a softmod solution. The modchip I have has a ton of wires and I dont know about going through all the trouble of detaching & resoldering it to another mobo, especially since I'm far from the greatest solderer in the world.
So what would be the best/most affordable way to repair/replace my modded PS? I havent even seen any pre-modded PS2 systems on ebay that werent asking a small fortune for it.
