Albert Odyssey: Legend of Eldean, Ah man what a classic! I beat this game in about 20-28 hours of gametime. Not "good" in my eyes for a solid RPG, since I feel RPGs should LEAST hit 30-60 hours gametime to REALLY be grand. However I am proven SERIOUSLY wrong on this fun action packed RPG!
Working Designs at its best. Shows the true meaning of the love for a world.. giving EACH character a lovable storyline and adventure in itself.
I remember playing for the 1st time. Un sure if it would compare to "Lunar" which is my craze. Well.. I was happy, speech and the story line right from the start, Pike (Main char) I remember how the harpy tribe he grew up in always joked him and how he never fit in. (A harpy mother took him in as he was a abandoned if I rem right)
Exploring the world, meeting up with new friends, GREAT music! It was EXCITING. The adventure NEVER got boring. This RPG isnt the most "hardest" out there, however it WILL not make you bored either. Fighting style was all turn based, you bought new items, there were many plot twists, magic, enchantments and dragons!
I cant go too much into detail as I do not wish to spoil the game too much. But I will say this game was rated highly in my mind.. and for about 5 years now.. I have been itching to play it again.. but I havent hooked my Saturn up. >.< But I tell you.. if I load a emulator.. I WILL pop in this CD 1st and relive the magic! I know I felt FULLY drawn into the game. This is a game where you will fall in love with the players, await whats next.
Man... I gotta play this again.. I only remember bits and parts of this game.. and what I do remember when I make these threads sounds more like a review lol. All I can tell you is what comes NOT from a "Internet" search and so, but from inside my memories.. which is the whole point of these [Memories] thread, to try to flash back to the past and remember when you played something and maybe create interest in playing again. Which.. I really wanna play this again.. I miss it soooo much.. Unique design of characters, hidden pasts of Pike and more. =)
Did you play this RPG? WHat do you remember from it? Was it warm joy feelings? All I know is back then.. Working designs was GOD then for RPGs. Even Square back then was neck and neck. Now Square kinda wins by default. I think that is the saddest part about Sega leaving like this.. Sony with its MANY rpgs, still somehow did not feel as it did for Sega. =/
