Ok, I'm so confused...

So I need to install EvoX before I swap my HDD? I google "XBOX HDD swap", and that's what all the sites that come up say.

If I have my copy of Mech Assalt, and an HDD, do I have everything I need to softmod my Xbox?

It's honestly *so* much easier just to go with the UXE softmod... It does involve flopping around with hotswapping the hard drives, but there is a method which means you don't have to go out and buy a game.

EvoX is just a helpful thing to install for the first replacement dash, mainly because it has options for installing UXE softmod built into it. I personally went with UnleashX for a while after that before eventually changing the dash to XBMC.

The steps go a little like this (read up on the full instructions on XB scene...)

- Open up your Xbox with a Torx (I forget the size) screwdriver. An Alan key is what I personally used, but I wrecked the screws so now I can never open it again.

- Earth the xbox - Connect it to your PC with a pair of crocodile clips (or a piece of tin foil if you're feeling ghetto). This is just a safety precaution.

- There's a Linux-based partition reading/writing iso called Xboxhdm - Burn that and boot off the disc to check that it's working all hunky-dory. (there are methods of doing it directly through windows, which is what I tried first, but they usually involve editing 1000+ hex addresses manually...)

- Remove your PC's hard drive from its primary IDE channel. Place your Xbox's IDE cable near the primary IDE channel.

- While XboxHDM is still running, boot up your Xbox. Just before the Microsoft logo appears at the bottom of the screen, swap the IDE cable into your PC - If things go right, XboxHDM should pick up the Xbox's hard drive's presence.

- My memory of it's a little sketchy at this point, but I remember using XboxHDM to install EvoX and put the UXE files on the hard disk.

- Reconnect the HD to your Xbox - Boot it up and pray that it isn't bricked past the flubber animation. :/

- If it boots, then you should be happy. If you want to swap in a larger HD, use XboxHDM to format it for Xbox partitions and throw your dash and **** onto it. Hotswap again.

DON'T use the above as a guide - There are plenty more detailed ones to be found, and I did mine back in december so I cannot remember the exact specifications.

You know what, I think I'll just buy Action replay, and return it when I'm done. That's the easiest way, even if it will require a trip to Best Buy...

The sony hdd is just a relabeled maxtor drive. it will work fine.

The apps you get at " the usual places" aka xbins. Also i think this is illigeal...since getting the stuff is illigeal since its made with the xdk or w/e its called. But theirs a guide on XS on how to get to xbins with FlashFXP and mIRC

Yes but need to mod the maps which you need a ppf or you mod the maps yourself. Which i wont help you with.

I couldn't find a UXE Installer that was in English. I kept getting ones in French. So I just went with what I could get my hands on.

I would have used EVOX and i think its netherlands launguge. It should ask you when you begin Netherlands or English.

I went to Blockbuster yesterday to get Burnout Revange(360) and i managed to get 2 free 48hr. MS has got real cheep from 2 months to 2 days.

BTW, this was the only file I used that asked me for a language. Everything else was just foreign from the start.

It doesnt really matter what dash you use. XBMC is a better dash its just that Evox is like the standerd. I use it. And no i dont want a 2 month.

My old box was softmodded unless you use xboxlive you lose nothing having this you can even play other games online that you cannot with xboxlive e.g. timesplitters 2 etc... practically any game with LAN
