It should work with the latest build of xbmc, if I remember correctly they added usb drive support in the 2.0 build.

I have 2 modded xboxs'

One is modded with a Xecuter 2.6 CE and a 250 GB Hard drive

And the other one i got is just softmodded with the stock hard drive (I'm trying to sell this one so if anybody wants it PM me for details)
