Default Good Linux Distro for IBM Thinkpad 760XL

I have an ancient laptop that is an IBM Thinkpad 760XL. It is severely limited(Pentium I processor and very little memory (i think it has 48mb of ram)).

Does anyone know of a good Linux distro that will run and preferably has some sort of a gui?

xubuntu http://www.xubuntu.org/

i love this OS it is a kind of Ubuntu that uses WAAAYY less system resources so it should run at a useable speed. but may need a bit more ram.

No way will Xubuntu run on 48mb of ram. I tried with 198, and even then, I didn't get it installed.
Puppy Linux or DSL should be good. I've heard VectorLinux is also good for slow computers, not sure.

Thanks, i tried Puppy Linux and DSL, both work.

i looked into xubuntu and a good amount of memory is 256mb.

i prefer puppy because it is a little faster, it takes only ~40mb of mem.
