I have downloaded linux ubuntu and burned it to a disk and put teh disk in my laptop, now what do I need to do? I can acess the BIOS by tapping F1 & ESC but I cannot make it boot from the CD :(
What shall I do?
Did you burn the ISO as a disk image?
Yeah, I used Nero, then opened the ISO and now ive checked it did burn as an IMG.
I haven't got a floppy drive so I cant use that to auto boot :(
Do you mean.... there's no option to make it do so.. or you just cant get it to boot after setting it to?
There is no option to do so in the first place :(
Could you tell me, the laptop is a Toshiba Satellite Pro CDS...
Which would be the best OS to be running on it?
I was thinking mabye some sort of MAC emulator or something?
Or should I keep tryin to install linux?
check your CMOS/BIOS and set the boot sequence. cdrom should be on top of harddisk. one way to check is if you have windows cd, insert it in your cdrom drive. if that windows cd boots, then its all set. if your linux cd wont boot, maybe you didnt burn the cd right.
I have a Toshiba Tecra. I the BIOS, there should be an option to set CD-ROM to boot before Hard Drive. That tells your PC to look for a bootable CD-ROM before Hard Drive.
