Apples go off!! Windows break!! hmm..
I've been using Linux for over a year now. I use it at university, work and home. If you are willing to take the time out and actually configure a distro so that it works with your hardware, then Linux may be for you.
So far I have found Ubuntu to be the best at auto-detecting and working with hardware. I have used Debian, Fedora, Suse (briefly) and some 60MB distros, but I like Ubuntu the most. Some Dell machines (mine included) don't work well Fedora, SUSE and I'm sure some other distros to. To resolve this, I switched back to Ubuntu and all my problems went out the window.
Getting your wireless card may be problematic as someone stated, but Network-Manager (NetworkManager, Network Manager) IMO is better than the default Windows application that connects you to a wireless network.
