So, I shut down my pc last night, and go to boot it up this morning with this error.
Code:
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEM You can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the original setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair. I have the Windows XP installation discs, so that might help. If anyone can help me, I'd love them .

You use your Windows XP Installation disk.
You press F12 when your PC boots up and then change the primary device to boot as the CD/DVD Drive, then the Windows XP disk will load. Choose repair or reinstall the OS and your away. |

Right.
I've put in my Windows XP + Service Pack 1 disc into the drive, and re-booted. It doesn't say anthing about loading from disc or anything. I tryed changing the CD-ROM to the primary master, that doesn't do anything. All this leads back to the: Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\ SYSTEM You can attempt to repair this file by starting windows setup using the original setup CD-ROM. Select 'r' at the first screen to start repair. |
