Anyone know any good desktop shells besides litestep? that are free, also is there anyway i can hide my desktop icons? WINDOWS VISTA

Alternate click on the Desktop -> View -> Unselect "Show Desktop Icons"

If you're looking for a replacement shell for Explorer, personally I use DirectoryOpus.

If you're looking for something more along the lines of a program launcher, try Launchy.
