yeh thats what i am kind of thinking of because its cheaper but the quad cores only 2.4ghz and the normals dual core is 2.67ghz. so wouldnt the normal dual core be better cause its 2.67ghz and has the better graphics and the 22 inch screen so i still dont know whats better.

the quad cores more expensive ...

If that's how you feel then go with the cheaper dual core.

i wouldnt really have to upgrade the graphics card cause its already directx10 compatiable. i just worried both computers will lag with vista home premium installed ??
and what processor is faster and runs better the 2.67ghz dual core or the 2.4ghz quad core

the 2nd one is better
even though its seems like less mhz, theres 4 of them so it would be a lot better for multitaskers than the duo

Yea, I think I'd go with the first one, cheaper and a bit faster. Although, the second one may be faster because of the new technology in it.

i dont reallt care about the screen size cause the second computer has a 20 inch screen thats only 2 inch difference. but what it comes down to is the graphics card and processor one computer has a better graphics card but the other a better processor. so what is better to choose over graphics card or processor???

processor :'(

Think how expensive quad is when compared with dual core. Then compare the price of the gfx cards.

And tell me where you're buying these from. The price difference from UK is enormous.

You have two motherboards on the first build one socket 775 and a socket AM2.
In the second build the 430W power supply doesn't give you much wiggle room for upgrades and addons.

Out of the two for your situation I would pick build 1. As you only want to use the machine for the occasional gaming, with its main use being internet surfing and torrents. You are never going to fully utilized the four cores simply surfing the net, downloading torrents or moderate gaming.

However if you are going to game a lot, burn lot of dvd's, do lots of image editing, creating/rendering 3D models then go with the Quad core otherwise you'll be wasting a lot of cash on something you wont be using.

EDIT

The priced seem rather expensive from that site. Would you be willing to build your own pc to save money and gain performance?

Yes, Australian dollars are like, .70 of a US dollar.

But you would still save atleast $200 if you went to a computer fair and bought all the parts yourself.

If you buy the parts seperately yourself you'll save even more, and potentially get an even better specification.

What's the maximum you're looking to spend?
