Default Hard drive problem.

Hey, I think my HD has died. Here is the problem :

I have 2 hard drives, One is SATA (This has the main OS booting on it) and another is my ATA drive. If my ATA drive is plugged in, Windows freezes on boot. (When I take it out, It works fine.)

How can I backup the data on the ATA drive thats formatted to NTFS? (I cannot get into windows, So it would need to be LiveCD based)

Thanks.

in bios set ur booting options to boot from ur sata drive first, that should solve the error from not getting into windows, and if ur hdd is broken u wont be able to backup the data u need.

Heres the thing, I also plugged it into a USB Drive encloser I had and it never worked either.

Windows comes up with...

New hardware detected "NAMEOFDRIVE" (So it knows the name) but it won't show up in my computer.

dl gparted live cd its a free software for formatting and parititoning drives, when u boot up see if it recognizes it, or even easier go to bios see if ur drive shows up.

if the drive is corrupt, it means its data is corrupt too, the only hope u had would be to look through the drive in windows, but since it doesn't show up, that i know of, there is no way to retrieve the data.
