Would this be a plausible way to make money?
Retail computers sell for more then their hardware costs, obviously, to make some profit. But they make way too much of a profit.
$1,050 + shipping.
it's hardware is:
Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6420 ($186.00)
2GB RAM $115.00 ($40.00 mail-in rebate)
2 X 320GB Hard Drives ( 2 x $89.99)
16X DVD+/-RW Drive ($27.49)
Windows Vista Home Premium ($214.99)
GeForce 7350LE Video Card ($34.99)
Memory Card Reader ($19.99)
I don't know its motherboard, but I'll say it's at most $75, and thats pushing it
$853.44 + shipping
Now I realize this is just one site, but the prices don't vary by $194.46. Even still, I could've upgraded the DVD drive to 20x SATA, more or more reliable RAM, use combo deals and still be under the $1050.00 mark.
Onto my question, could this be a way to make some spare money; order the above parts, build the PC myself, and sell for maybe $100 over the hardware cost? I just now realized I then could spend an extra $50 on a cool case with lighting to add to the appeal.
