Default buying a alienware

I am in the market to buy a new computer, my comp. is 15 years old and I think is time for a change. Recently all my friends and some work colleagues have sugested that I buy a alienware. So I looked into it and they are very expensive. They are a hell of a lot better than what I have but do I really need this. I mean all I do on my comp. is play games and surf the net. Is it really worth it to buy one of this. Can anybody help?

I wouldn't buy one (with my knowledge of computers) if you have a friend that knows how to build tell him or her to match the specs and it will cost about 1/3 of the alienware, and it will be customized to what you like.

Alternatively Dell has awesome deals, just get a new video card (not from dell) and you will be set for most games.
