Default Change MAC ADDRESS?

I have a few questions about MAC addresses

1. How would I go about changing my Netgear DG834G's MAC address?
2. If I changed it, would it do anything to the network? (eg. make it drop)

Thanks

I don't think you can change it, every wireless box (whatever) has a certain mac address.

Aww..I wanted to try that MGS: PO trick where you change your routers MAC address and you can recruit soldiers using the AP Scan thing.

1) You cannot change the MAC address given to you by your ISP.

2) Assuming you are on XP:
  • Control Panel > Network Connections.
  • Right click on the NIC you want to change the MAC Address on.
  • Go to the General tab, click Configure.
  • Advanced tab.
  • Property section > Network Address.
  • Under 'Value' type the new MAC address.

When I go to the Advanced tab, I get

Coalesce Buffers
Link Speed & Duplex
Locally Administered Address
Receive Buffers
Transmit Control Blocks

I don't know which one to change

Your mac address isn't given to you by your ISP. It's burned into the rom of your router.

I know. I thought he meant the MAC address that is used to switch providers etc. Then I realized he meant his router (after reading his whole post).
