I just downloaded a forum called phpBB and all the files are .php, now when I am on a website with .php files I can view them fine but if I try to open the index.php from my computer in Firefox or IE it just asks me if I want to open or download it... How can I view it without uploading it somewhere supporting php?

thats because they are not being served by a server, but from a file on your computer. what you need to do to veiw php files on your comp, is get apatchi, set it up for php, then run the files thru the server onto your browser. you need to do this because php files are not compiled, they have to be processed by the php interpreter to be displayed.
