Default NVidia 8600 GS w/256mb VS. 7700 w/512 mb

I can't decide between two laptops with those video cards. I investigated and they're in the same performance range. The 8600 GS has only 256 mb and can be Turbo-Cached for 512 mb and has DX10 support, but the 7700 has 512 mb and s in a 14" laptop so i find it perfect.

What is better, the 8600 GS or the 7700?

The 8600. Its newer, more powerful, uses newer technologies, is direct x10 compatable, its clocked higher, has more pixel pipelines.

Also on top of all that it uses less power so battery lasts longer

FYI, video ram shouldn't be over 256 unless you have a 21 inch monitor

Ok, thanks for info. I finally took my decision.
It's an ASUS F3SV with 1GB of RAM, T7500 2.20Ghz 4MB Cache, Nvidia 8600 GS 256mb.

Thanks for your help!
