WMP won't play .avi...sort of

Well it plays the AUDIO from the .avi, but it doesn't play the actual video.

I've been googling around for .avi codec, players, and I can't find the .avi codec for WMP. Yes I did go to microsoft.com, they're codecs aren't the ones I need.

So help me find it...this is really frustrating me as why can't if ****ing work.

BTW I've tried divx and it gives me an error something with directshow and codecs, installed directshow codecs, still the same error.

Get VLC player because I don't think you can get a codec for .avi for WMP.

It then says close and it plays the video with sound but without video, it was working fine before and now this happens. I noticed it doesn't start up a little FF icon in the bottom right hand corner anymore when I start it, so

I didn't need them before but I'll install them now and see what happens =/
