Hi all. I have an issue. I purchased a Netgear WGT624. It came with one blue ethernet cable and a usb dongle (which i dont need). i connect the ethernet cable to my computer and have no wire for the router to connect to my phoneline.
Overall i am very confused. Do i need another wire or some other piece of equipment ? |

Does the phone line cable not go into the router? I am laughing at myself now because I myself have a router setup but I just can't remember the layout lawl.

You should have got a cable which goes from the phone line socket in the router to the phone socket in your double adapter (one used for phone, and other for router) i recommend:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/10M-RJ11-to-BT...ayphotohosting It's a phone socket to RJ11 (the cable whcih goes in the phone line socket on the router). Anything like that will do.

You need an ADSL router like me.
Speectouch 330 is a usb modem, it goes: Code:
phone socket>double adapter>phone
|
>usb modem>computer>internet

apologies to myself for being a moron.
The problem is that the speedtouch wont even connect to the netgear. FFS. What should i do to take it back ? PC world wont accept that it's the wrong modem probably.

Don't take knock off advice from these people. The answer to your question is quite simple.
You have purchased a Wireless Router, NOT a modem. To connect to the internet, both a modem and router are required. If your old modem connected via ethernet, then you can connect your modem to your router via ethernet (with the phone line going into your modem). Being in the UK, you will probably have previously owned a USB modem, so you will have to buy a Modem router. Here's the one I adivse: Click here -= Double Post =- Quote:

The quote has been removed, but remember under English Law they have to exchange or refund. If they are really stubborn and say no, just tell them that one of the guys in PC World told you to get that one, then they'll definatly do it :P.

All original packaging should be taken, and make every effort to put it in how it was taken out. They will check everything is there (cables included).
