I dont know much about viruses..but Kaspersky just picked that up. Can anyone explain what it is? And what appropriate action should i take? Should it be neutralised or could it be be tagged to something nasty?

HackTool.Win32.Homac

Installs programs. Invokes dll components. Runs other programs. Communicates with web sites using httpout protocols. Has outbound communications. Creates known malware. Creates copies of itself.

Use all programs you have to try and deleted this. As my previous post said, it creates copies of itself, so I'd be careful. Go into Safe Mode and run virus and spyware/malware scans and remove it.

If this is what I had, good luck. I ended up re-installing Windows because of it.
Download all the known (and good) virus protection software, and run them one after another.

Oh god. Alright, i havent done anything yet. So your advice is to remove it?

But couldnt that ruin my pc even more? Should i "Neutralize" it or delete it?

I remember downloading something called "IceColdReload". Basically the site said it froze peoples msn accounts. I've used it a few times but it never worked. So i deleted it.

That was it, wasnt it?

Another thing, i'm going abroad tommorow. My pc will be used by siblings..so is it ok if i do this when i get back? Or will that be too late?

You should get Spybot Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware, those two will clean up almost anything.
