I have 3 computers in my house, a dell latitude that has vista ultimate (i put it on a 3 yr old comp LOL), a sony vaio with win 98, and a compaq.
used to have 98 till yesterday
i installed win 2000
Problem: I selected clean install and it installed "next to" Windows 98 (windows 2000 uses WINNT folder and win 98 uses Windows so they can co-exist)
PROBLEM2: The computer for some odd reason does not detect boot CDs
PROBLEM3: I want to reformat the hard drive and start over
PROBLEM4: how can I do this without using a boot disk, and also how can i make it detect a boot disk?
The computer SUCKS, and is 9 years old, so dont' tell me anything about xp/vista on that thing. it has just under 300 mb ram and some crappy processer etc. it is running 2000 perfectly. i get choice to run 98 or 2000 on boot up, but i didn't like that so i deleted the windows folder from C:/ but it still comes up :Argh: only now windows 2000 works and windows 98 just gives error and forces you to hold power button. Is there a way to force microsoft office 2007 to install on 2000/98? I have it running on vista.
THANKS SORRY FOR UNORGINAZED INFORMATION AND MISPELLINGS! IT IS 3 AM HERE AND I DON'T FEEL LIKE FIXING THOSE ERRORS, SO FORGIVE ME I WILL CHECK TOMORROW!
I want to reformat my hard disk so that it runs like new, and have the only operating system be 2000. i do NOT have any type of recovery disk though since my friend gave me the computer. I cannot manage to use the windows 2000 disk as a bootdisk. it is win 2000 professional. I am upgrading computer because my netgear wireless adapter doesn't work with windows 98. Do not tell me that it works on 98 etc. because i do not have a way to return to '98. thank you and i tried editing the bios
