A little format will fix this right up!!!
Dont know what you did to **** up your file system that it no longer see the extra space... Unless you formated in something like ext3 something windows cant see...

If can find someone else with a some freespace on computer and owns a ipod or something like that ask him to hold in on his computer till you format then after that put the data back on it...
You should have really thought of this before formating your HDD...I take it you dident look at the waring that said back up your data before doing anything this can not be undone!!!,,Or just live with the missing 20 gbs....

Yeah, I'm an idiot
So the format completely wipes it clean then? Maybe I'm misunderstanding. Or does it leave important windows files? my brother has an ipod, but I'm not sure how much space he has unused. |

I wasn't going to format unless I backed up their files... My mom hass all of her digital pictures on there. And some old tax records. And my sister has all of her music.
I really wish I could get that 20 gigs back. I don't even know whats going on. Disk Management says I have a partition for C: that is 70 gigs. And right above it it says it has a capacity of 50... That doesn't even make sense to me. The worst part is I had just cleaned up my hard drive and saved 18 gigs... only to lose 20 later. I actually had over half my harddrive free and now this. |

Some time ago the same thing happened to me, just do a full scandisk using chkdsk with a recovery disk or a windows xp cd using the recovery console.
That will rebuild the partition table and the File List (if it can be called like that). |
