Ok, so today microsoft found out I was using an illegal copy of Vista Ultimate, so I had to erase my HD, so I decided to install my legit XP Home copy. SO I installed it and everything went well, but since I have no drivers, I cant go on the internet, I have no sound, and the graphics suck. So I went on another computer and went on the Compaq Presario website and searched for SR1920NX drivers (thats my CP model). SO I downloaded all the drivers, but every single one of them failed to install. Wtf is going on?

ugh, I dont think this computer can handle it, it has like 1gb of free space and its a Pentium 3 lol. But Ill try that if all else fails, which, knowing my luck, probably will.

Also does driver magic require an internet connection? if it does, I cant use it, because I dont have a driver for my internet card.

Download Lavalys Everest, The program will tell you EVERYTHING thats on your PC use google to search for the drivers that match your hardware.

Every PC should come installed with Everest, Its a must have.

ugh im so mad that this happened.

Ok, I know that pretty much all my drivers are nVIDIA, other than my realtek audio one, so hopefully this will work now.

The thing thats making this so aggrevating is that, I have to download iton this computer, put it on a USB, then put the USB in another computer and burn it to a CCD, because my computer dosnt even know how to handle USB right now T_T

How the hell can MS know that you were using a illegal copy of Vista Ultimate..

Also did you get them from here http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...&swEnvOID=1098....

Also dont download all of them know your hardware dont download all of the drivers download the ones you need like Realtek High Definition Audio Drivers and not Other crap...Also make you you install the chipset first....

You can easily see what they are if you click the names there say

sp26741.exe=Original NVIDIA Chipset Drivers

OMFG!!!!!!!!!!! Only 1 o the freaking drivers worked the nVIDIA diplay, whic wasthe onl one I didnt download from te HP website I AM SO PISSEDOFF! Not evem thecipset one would install, andthe realtek wouldnt instal because I dont have sp2

EASY

almost all routers have the option to connect to the internet through usb, and im positive the usb drivers were installed when u installed xp so just connect to the internet through the usb port in ur router/computer. Then install driver magic, im me if u have problems finding it, and finally ur done. Also if u would like to go back to vista u can im me about that too.

the only way im on the internet is because im using Ubuntu right now, but I want to dual-boot. But I dont have the drivers for windows, so windows would be like useless atm.

most modems have like 3 or 4 ethernet and 1 usb port which they can connect to the internet with:

I'm not sure if you can connect to the internet on Windows or not but I can't see why not if it's wired connection,try runnnig Windows update, that would sort out the SP2 problem.

same, thats whats frustrating me, Ubuntu and Vista worked great out of the box, I didnt need to install any drivers and everything worked, but XP is being very picky.

Are you dual booting XP with ubuntu now?

If so you can download the drivers in ubuntu and save them to you XP desktop, then boot into XP and try 'em.

well one said does not have SP2, and another said something like please install drivers through driver updater. I cant do that though because I dont have internet

is it possible to dual boot with vista if XP just dosnt want to work? Because I know that Vista works with all my drivers right away, and if anything should happen, I can just go to ubuntu partition and backup my files.
