Default What Components Should I get

Ok even though it is 3 months away from Christmas my folks already want to know what i want for christmas and well I don't want anything major and i want to replace my Desktop but build it myself so i feel proud and know what i can upgrade. I have 2 other brothers and money is tight this year with my parents getting a loan for a warm christmas. My parents have about £100- £150 to spend and i got about £300 last year from my tips as a paperboy but i have to pay for myself to go on our German Exchange I am looking for another Job but i was wondering what components I should get for an ideal Gaming Computer to last a few years and easy to upgrade. I already have a monitor even if it is 15" but i can slowly replace it.

I would like a:

Dual Core
1-2 GB of RAM
500GB Hardrive
Direct X 10 compatible Graphics card
and a good tower

at the best price possible.

Thanks in advance

You don't really need a hard drive that big do you? If you're going to install Vista I would definitely recommend getting 2GB of ram, if not (XP or something else) probably just 1GB. I can't really give advice on the rest of it except that Dual Core is good.

On hardrives...get 2x250 hardrives rather than 1 500gb. Do what I did, I have three hardrives, one for application/windows, one for media/movies/music, and the last one for games only (got all my steam stuff on it).

Oh yeah incase your drive f's up...you will lose over 500gb worth of data. I highly recommend you have 3 drives in your computer...

Well I plan to start with XP then Upgrade a while after SP1 has been released and a few bugs have been ironed out and i like the idea of the 3 hardrives so i might do that saves having to reinstall XP

I have 3 hard drives: a 60GB for my operating system and programs, one for downloads, movies, music etc and one that I'm trying (and miserably failing) to install Windows 98 on.
