Give us something to work with.
Like the make and model of the motherboard (if your using the onboard sound) or the make and model of the sound card.
If you don't know the above could you tell me the make a model of the pc, eg. Dell Dim 2400.

Install all chipset drivers of your mobo.
Install the driver of your soundcard.

If that doesn't work,
Go to hardware manager and uninstall the soundcard driver.
Reinstall and reboot.

...
You did reboot after you have installed them.
Right?

-edit-

are you sure you have it plugged in in the right jack?

Does it work at all...is there a digital output? Does the sound recorder work? Does the headphone output work?

I don't see why it won't work if you have the right drivers...I'm guessing its a hardware problem.

****.. i had the same thing on my end (asus k8v.. something a bit different though)

hmm... there were two things you had to install. one's the 98.. and another's... well, it's supposed to come with the driver.. has a blue interface and pisses you off when you're trying to get something done.

another thing... it may have died.

try shoving a seperate soundcard in there to see if THAT'll work.
the soundcard (that was built into my mobo) died after about a month and it was said that i'm not a rare case.. :/

and the last thing.. in devices, make sure the thing's set as default.

duh.. lol.

nice sig btw :P

hope i helped, if you want more from me, or if it worked, pm me. i doubt i'll check back.

GUD LUK!
