Default IRC and AIM?

Can someone tell me the difference between these?

Also if I was to get a IRC client, which would you recommend? I use fireFox so should I get Chatzilla?

And which AIM client should I use?

There is only one AIM client, and that's AIM.
AIM is like MSN, while IRC is like a room that you can enter, where each room has a different topic (I.E. PSP Hacking, Rythmic Literature, etc.).

Miranda works just as good, and it's not that big on memory usage (not saying AIM is a resource hog like MSN is).

I couldn't get to grips with Miranda. I don't know why but I hated it.

Lol, I love it, a simple chat box, for chatting, not for webcams and nudges, also it's great 'cos you can have it on your desktop, the contact list that is, but yea.. it can take a while to config.
