operating system not found

Unhappy operating system not found

Hey, im not sure if this thread is in the right place but i need some help, i was on my laptop a few days ago when it sudenly crashes so i wait a bit for it to stop and a few minuites later i get a blue screen saying that windows encountered an error, so i restart my laptop and before it loads xp it comes up with an eroor saying "operating system not found" does anyone know how i may be able to fix this with or without losing all of my data, thanks for the help.

You weren't like, deleting Windows were you? That could cause this.

Seems that your laptop has a bad hardware. Get it checked from the warranty provider and install windows again. I had same BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH on my laptop couple of times, but it was my faulty RAM.

put in the install disk and repair, this has happened to me before.

I saw that same message on my PC yesterday after upgrading my video card (which had nothing to do with it). The problem was that I had left my PSP turned on and connected to the USB on the PC when I restarted after upgrading. The PC seems to have been trying to look for the system on the PSP or something. I disconnected it and it was working again.
