I've downloaded a program from Microsoft called Process Explorer (a good alternative to the task manager) and notice something wierd...

This beconds the question...
Is Vista built on top of Windows NT?

yup.

I looove that program i can kill my stuff when it acts stupid with the windows taskmanager i have to wait forever. but i think (don't quote me on this) that all versions of windows are built on eachother so there is nothinhg wrong with having nt files in a new os

No, Windows NT isn't bad. NT is the base of Windows 2000, Windows 2003, and Windows XP, too.
