Default Urgent Help Needed - Sony Vaio Laptop Blank Screen...

Hey guys,

I was browsing the internet wirelessly on a Sony Vaio laptop and a blue screen appeared saying some long error; 'If this is the first time you have seen this error then remove all external hardware and restart'. So I did. Everything seemed to be working fine after that so I plugged all external stuff back in (only wireless dongle). Then it did the same but with a worse error. It said something like try disabling shadowing or something, can't quite remember. So I restarted, but this time it will turn on but the screen stays black. Is this a hardware related problem, or software related?

Thanks for the help!

I would say its software related. Attempt to boot off a live cd and see if your screen works. If it does then you can stop worrying

I've tried, nothing happens.

Also, I forgot to mention that this laptop is nearly four years old.

No BIOS? No anything? Is the wireless dongle plugged in? Are the pins in the connector shorted? (Happened to me once and did the same thing)

Let it cool down for half hour then try once more. Vaio's get damn hot.

Yeah. Me and eldiablov have come to a decision that it is hardware failure. Nothing I can do.

Thanks for the help.

So absolutely nothing comes up when you turn it on? If so then it's most likely your screen.

EDIT: Didn't see your above post.
