Default Need info on wireless routers (big noob)

I am very unfamiliar with networking and such so I need your help. Right now, I have ASDL with just a modem, no router. Can I just buy a wireless router and plug it in and I will have wireless internet?

basically yeah, you do have to follow a quick setup cd and if you have any problems (unlikely scenario) then you call tech support and they can set it up for you over the internet (provided you can plug it all in ). I would go with Linksys because i had a netgear and it over heated. one last thing when you set up a wireless network you are often prompted to set up security this is a very good idea. the simplest choice is "WEP" this means that every device that connects to it must input a 10 digit code (only once per device) now remembering a random 10 digit number is tough but, you no what ten digit number is easy? your phone number minus the area code (what I use). one last thing get a router that costs at least $100 USD because usually cheaper routers have a shorter range. and if you have wireless phones in your house check their frequency (mostly 2.4) if they are this frequency get a new phone or a router that functions on a different frequency.
