Feels good to be back on XP. I've been so disconnected from the good ol OS that I don't know what apps to get for it first. Suggestions?

vista is fine you just have to know how to use it. Had vista since launch and have no problems.

It's not so fine for me. I'm heavily into deskmodding. And vista is lacking in that department, and the random firefox crashes aren't making it look too good either. It's also alot slower than XP on my laptop. I'm definetly deleting my vista partiton when I get my XP set up.

Why get Nero instead of DVD Decrypter/ImgBurn?

cs3 lite ;D
and no, vista will never be as good as xp, because they're trying to hard to attract the mac lovers with mac-like, almost clone-y feature sets and styling and frankly, aero, as much as MS fanboys rave about it, is fcking UGLY.

I hate it when you call me by old names Vii.

Edit: Just to stay on topic, Nevada I like Aero but it's not as nice as some uxthemes and windowblinds.

Also, i hate how Microsoft are trying to bully us into using it. By making new games require it and having it pre-installed on any new PC's.

Yea, it's a good job there are 'places' you can get these games to work on XP.

Vista Aero is a poor attempt to get people to update. I'm finally getting the full potential out of my laptop. No more random-ass crashes, and back to styler toolbar and findexer.

All I have to do now is get my sound drivers up.

The only thing good about vista is the support for new games, but that wont apply to me, as I'm not too big on PC games.

ehhh, ill just wait till a patch comes out to make a game work on xp. till then ill play ps3. But seriously vista is the worst os i've ever encountered. It crashes all the time, and it always asks you permission to run an application...of course i want to run it! i clicked the damn button! Not to mention it runs slow on my pc...and i have a pretty damn good setup!

Installing the SP1 release candidate made Vista a lot more responsive and stable. There is no way I am going back to XP now. The only thing that is a problem now is slow transfers over a network

Firefox seems as stable as it always was on XP. I can launch firefox about 5 seconds after I log in and it will be responsive and will load pages. In XP, I would have to wait a while after clicking the icon for firefox to load.

"Deskmodding" is a non issue to me, I don't feel the need to spend hours making my desktop look like anything as long as everything is visible and easy on the eyes.

Don't blame vista for firefox not working right on your pc. I use firefox it works fine, I also use opera and ie so maybe its something with your pc. And desk modding is fun for about five min. But to each his own. And you can turn off the user account control. So it won't prompt you every time you run a program.

I use Firefox Version 3 beta 2 on Vista, and I'll admit it crashes every now and then, only when I do loads of weird stuff like have >5 tabs open and one or two of then use the java plugin etc. but it's completely manageable.

I already had UAC turned off. That was one of the first things that I did.. I've had some bad experiences with vista, like firefox crashing, then me opening up task manager.. then task manager crashing alongside firefox. Not saying that Vista is horrible, It's just not for me. I was never into it's style, and the way that it functioned. It feels... forced to me.

NOD32 is better than AVG if you want to buy (or download) a great Anti virus. Microsoft Office sucks as you have to pay for it and is much slower. Get Open Office instead better for what you want to do and more flexible than MO.
