Default Netgear, easiest network to setup EVAR!

Last year we bought a d-link with all bells and flashing lights...piece of **** imo. And it took roughly 3 weeks to setup with nippy signal. We had it replaced 4 times, two it tech's come round and still no look so we resorted to sell it, the thing had already cost us hundreds of pounds, with all the call outs ect.
So last week we went to PCworld, bought a budget router, £80. This was a netgear. I started setting this up yesterday night. Then this morning i finished the job in 10 minutes, with full security. I definitely recommend these routers.
Now i just wish i hadn't paid them £30 for them to come out and set it up. It was so easy for me to do it myself

WPA-PSK

I thought it was overall a better choice than WEP (old) and the other can't remember it's name, where it was incompatible with certain hardware.

My BT Home Hub had WEP until now, thanks for reminding me to change it, WEP is way too easy to crack now, WPA PSK it is

It's best to use that because:
WEP :
Cons
Insecure
Old
Pros
Everything compatible (Almost)

WPA-PSK :
Cons
Some hardware not compatible
Pros
Newish
Has more hardware compatible than WPA-802

WPA-802 :
Cons
Very little hardware compatible
Pros
The newest
Hardest to hack

Overall best achiever, WPA-PSK

huh you found netgear to have a better setup then linksys i thought they were about the same. little warning i don't know if your router is a newer model or not but when we had our 2 year old netgear (we had never opened it and only got a couple months of bad use out of it.) it would over heat and shut down whenever i downloaded something big. i am sure that this problem has been resolved by now in fact the hotel computer i am on right now is host to a netgear router. good luck with it and sorry about your big bills.

I have a Linksys router and don't wanna set it up because it might disrupt our BT, plus it doesn't look like it's working.

This netgear router is specialized to BT, so no wonder it's working well
@Andy, did you have any issues with your msn going ****ed up and closing when you installed your router.
@Bino, the d-link we got was for profesional use, so i was very confused.
But thanks

PS3 has trouble connecting to WPA-PSK.

I've got my Livebox on WEP. Its just a deterrent. If someone really wanted to access your internet, they could.

My Netgear sucks. The thing shuts off half the time, crashes if I torrent with more than two computers, and the PS3 net browser doesn't work great with it. Keeps on getting a 'Network Error.' Refresh, and the page is fine.
