We just upgraded to "fiber-optic" internet and tv from at&t, so now i have a 3mb/s connection. Whenever i download anything from like megaupload or rapidshare the most i get is 300kb/s, which pisses me off. is there any way to get the most out of it or am i just gonna have to live with it?

Are you using premium accounts?

With an RS premium account I get a full 2MB/s at work (which is rubbish as it's a 100MB privately leased fibre line, its also amazing tho as it is going through a heavily locked down firewall).

I'm not sure about megauploads, I don't use it much.

But if you're not using a premium RS account then that's why your not getting amazing speeds.

I'm with Orange, and i've got a 8MB internet connection, but i'm only getting 5867kbps. Meaning only about 6MB. I only get 300kbps on premium rapidshare. Is there anyway to speed that up?

I remember having to download at 3kbps. You guys don't realize how ridiculous you sound, complaining about 300kbps.

Vee you might get upto 8mb, but depending on how far you are from you're exchange is how good you're speed will be, you're internet is perfectly fine. On the last week with TalkTalk we had 5kbps.

My internet speed is normally ok. Sometimes it sucks major balls, most of the time it is cool.

With rs prem I get average of 600kb/s and it peaks after about 7pm to around 800

I'd suggest buying a yearly account. It's what I did after sharing with someone for a month for free, totally worth it. Especially good if you make a huge list of links download over night

Phil, I get the same speeds either way, I don't think it's a matter of RS limiting speed they just limit downloads.

Well usually the download speed is around 1/10 of the connection speed, you're speed is more than acceptable.

That happens to me, download speed usually isn't stable over a wireless connection.

Stop moaning, I get a DL speed of around 80 KB/sec. Right now I'm obtaining some applications and they're downloading at 50 KB/sec.

Weird then, anyway just be happy with you're speed it's alot better than some peoples, 330kbps isn't bad at all.
