What do these Router Settings mean?

Im setting up a WEP key and it has these options what do they mean?

Under Security Encryption (WEP) there are 2 options:

One is
Authentication Type:
and the options for that are: Automatic, Open System and Shared Key
What do each of those 3 options mean?

and the other one is
Encryption Strength:
and the options for that are: 64 bit and 128 bit
What do each of those 2 options mean?

2. 64bit is less secure than 128bit

So whats the point in 64 bit is there if 128 bit is more secure?

The lower the number in bit encryption the easier to hack.
