So I got a D-Link WBR-1310 54 mbps router the other night, thought I could hook it up in 5 minutes and finally get Wifi back on my PSP...well turned into a one day journey instead.
Thing is, I have a 2wire 1070-b modem given by AT&T for their DSL service. The modem is not only a modem...but also a router (not wireless). So instead of letting my router route certain IPs and DHCPs, my modem does it, obviously this would be a problem. So I've gone through numerous ways of trying to get it to work, including putting my modem in bridge mode and eliminating the routing within it. That didn't work. Right now, I have my setup like this...
Modem -> 4 port Hub -> 2 computers.
I want to have the router come off the hub and act as an access point for my PSP only, but that would be the ideal situation. I could just eliminate the hub, but I've tried that method and failed.
I also read somewhere that I could wire the router to my computer with a normal cable, then link the router to the hub or modem with a cross-over cable, would that work? I want to avoid touching my modem, because if I mess up, it doesn't have a reset button, so I'd have to send it to AT&T to get it reflashed.
