Ok I have had my computer for a good year, but it was a heap one from PC World with a monitor. I have been thinking about building a new one at as lower cost as possible.
First question, How do I find out what case size mine is (this will help sway whether I buy a new case or not.) Second question am I being stupid at lookign at a price range of about £300 ($600 ish) using my old case, PSU etc. Is there a way to use IDE hardrives on a SATA motherboard (just in case) So in conclusion I mainly want to upgrade my motherboard (depending in my case) Processor, RAM and Graphics card (not majorly essential but it is AGP) |

If its general usage then its do able, but if you want it as a gaming machine then its better to save a little more. Edit: Here ths best you can get in your price range (taking into account your using the old hdd, dvd\cd drive, monitor and accessories) CPU - Intel E4500 Motherboard - ASUS P5N-E SLI RAM - 2 x 1gb DDR2 800 GPU - ATI/AMD 3650 Case/PSU - Antec Sonata III Comes to just under £300 of course the gpu isn't amazing and you would be best to get a new harddrive and OS installation...

I would like it to play games but I am not one of those that has 201 differnet games I usually have 2 or 3.
The main reason is just to upgrade it a lot with the theory I won't have to upgrade it for a while especially with Core2Duo prices going down. |
