Default fixmbr with an UBCD

hello
i destroyed my mbr, but i have the UBCD 4.1.1, but i donīt know where to type in the fixmbr command

As far as I know, you don't need UBCD. You just boot from your Windows disk, reach the console and then type fixmbr.

that only works under XP i think. Or alternatively, you could install an alternate bootloader, like GRUB, especially if you plan on installing a second OS later on.

How do you propose he does this if his MBR doesn't work?

he means boot from the installation CD and go to the recovery console.

Oh, that kind of disk. My mistake. I thought he meant the hard disk, not a compact disk.

yeah just for grammar's sake, a CD is a disc, an HDD and other types are called disks

Crazy. That's how I originally typed it up, but I figured someone was going to call me out on inconsistency. Didn't figure it would happen the other way around.
