Exclamation XP SP3 Finally Released!

Well it was delayed for a week and over, so finally it is released, but problems may occur with some people, I and many other people installed SP3 but then our PC wouldn't boot and BSOD always, I found a fix and it worked:

Code:
http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2887771&SiteID=17
The 2nd to bottom post, anyway has anyone else installed SP3?

I have noticed a vast difference from SP2, alot faster and response is better, less crashes and overall a great update, some new features are included, from Vista, view a detailed update changelog here:
Code:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Windows_XP#Service_Pack_3
Sp3 is available from Automatic Updates aswell

What are the updates that Windows tries to make you do when you come to log off? It downloads them..then asks if you want it installed when logging off.

They do, If you have SP3 RC1/2 you will need to uninstall it, so that Microsoft Update doesn't think you already have it, and Moose, I don't trust downloading them from unofficial sources.

I updated last week but I don't see any difference? What's new? Maybe it's because I tweaked my XP so much that it can't get any faster.

Just downloaded. I did find that there was a significant speed boost on the startup. I have 7 or 8 startup applications that on sp2 it would take around 5 minutes for Windows to fully start up. It now starts up pretty much instantly and I can launch firefox or photoshop right as soon as xp starts up with no problems

I seriously doubt that can be true but will download it to find out.

Well, my mother doesn't think it's a good idea; the last time Windows updated, it broke.

Something was wrong with your PC if it was that bad, mine is running just the same as before the update. Applications ready to open about 10s after the desktop appears.

Make sure you have System Restore enabled when installing, I've heard people having problems with it disabled.
Anyways, I think I'm gonna install this from Windows Updates now.

Yes. You should be able to go into control panel and change the settings. Or you can also go to the windows update site and check manually. (You can also download the SP3 EXE manually from microsoft.com but it'll be a big download since it has all previous updates rolled into it.)
