Default Upgrading my computer

So, I've been putting this off for a while now, but I've finally decided that it's time to upgrade my computer. I'm a bit confused at one aspect of it, though. I have a Pentium 4 2.66 GHz processor, and I want to upgrade to a Dual Core processor. I've read that this means I will have to upgrade my mother board as well. I'm wondering if there is a motherboard that I can buy that has an "All-in-one" kind of deal to it. You know, video card, dual core processor, etc...
That way all I'll need to upgrade is the RAM. If there is not one of these available, could someone recommend me a good motherboard that supports a PATA hard drive and dual core processors? Thanks for any help you are able to provide.

Thanks.

I found this one while looking on newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131230

Does it look good? It seems to come with decent onboard graphics (compared to my Intel 865g, anyways). It seems to support a decent processor and RAM, plus it's not too expensive (although if it's not good, I don't mind shelling out some extra cash).

EDIT: I'd like to fit it with this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116036
and this:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820161229

Compatible, no?

You need a Motherboard / CPU / VGA Combo there are tons of them on newegg

Search around for what best suites you

http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCateg...-CPU-VGA-Combo

But the Cpu are really week.
It real easy to install a Cpu into a mother board. If you like tell me what you need and I find you a good deal. Or tell me the specs you like CD2 or quad, amount of ram ext....

I feel stupid for asking this, but exactly how fast is the CPU on that motherboard? Does this mean the speed:
CPU Type Quad-core / Core 2 Extreme / Core 2 Duo / Pentium
FSB 1333/1066MHz?

CPU is separate from the motherboard
and FSB 1333/1066 means it supports cpus that have that same speed
C2D cpus are all 800 or higher, so you'll have no problems there
CPU type is just what kind of cpu is supported

Alright, thanks. I'm still really used to this stuff.

I think I found a motherboard/CPU/VGA combo here:http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...IN#detailspecs

It has a decent CPU, Decent Integrated Graphics, and good space for RAM. What do you think?

Then, if I install two of these, my PC will be looking good, right? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820161675

The gfx will bottleneck the system, but it will be fine as long as you aren't gaming.

In that case I might just get this and then buy a 256MB Nvidia for some casual gaming.

If I update my motherboard, does that mean I will have to update everything on my computer? I'd like to keep my Sound Card and Disc/Hard Drives.

what kind of port do you plug in your soundcard to? pci? most likely the answer is yes, also you want to check your computer for having the right ports for your hard drive, new mobos have sata port for sata hard drives but older hard drives are ide... your cd drives should be fine no matter what...
what you really need to worry about it cpu compatibility aswell as graphics card/onboard cpu

Well, I'm getting a new CPU as well as a new graphics card, so I don't need to worry about that too much. I don't think I have a SATA hard drive, so will I need to get one? I'm going to check my sound cards in a minute.

If your new mobo has an IDE port (which is most likely what you have now) then your hdd will work.

You'll need a heatsink for that CPU.

What if it says:PATA 1 x ATA100 2 Dev. Max?

I'm fairly sure my Hard Drive is a PATA.

You have three options

a) Sacrifice a disc drive
b) get a SATA hard drive
or
c) get a pci ide card (not sure if these are still around.)

Because of the limited number of slots?

So, my hard drive will connect to one of the disc slots?

Sorry once again for the stupid questions. I'm still new at this.

Yep, or get a SATA hard drive. OR if you don't like either of those ideas, get this. (or something similar.)

Alright, this is starting to make sense. Using neweggs "essentials" I've come up with the parts I want to buy.
Motherboard: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131243
RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820145098
IDE Controller: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16816132012
CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819116052

I think it looks alright. I might get a new graphics card for it, too, but that would work for now.
