When I log into my girlfriends computer only the background loads. The only way the desktop and task bar would load is if I go into task manager and start a new task. Once I start a new task everything loads and the task I started gets an error because it could not be found. After that everything works fine. Before there were lots of viruses and spyware on it but I got rid of them. The machine is completely clean but this problem still exists. I was thinking of repairing Windows but I'm not completely sure it would fix the problem.

try repairing it from the disc. but if you "got rid" of all the spyware and viruses. id recomend formatting and reinstalling, because that crap never really comes out.
