ATI Release 4800 Series!
Well I am excited about this, seen as I may be getting one when I build, the benchmarks look good, and hopefully throughout the year better cards will be released aswell, what do you think on the new series?
Btw: I don't want to start a Nvidia vs ATI thing, so if you post anything about Nvidia, go away.
Not starting a war, but if they're not as good as NVIDIA's offerings at the time then I wouldn't buy one. Brand loyalty gets you nowhere, and it seems that at the moment, you'd be wrong to buy ATI. If they can better NVIDIA with the next series of cards I'll be surprised.
I'd say ATI are better Value for Money.
Thing is, benchmarks are ********.....
I've seen some stupidly high benchmarks, that were simply impossible to recreate.....
If anything it seems that the release of these cards is just pushing nvidia to drop their pricing. There have been rumors that the GTX 280 won't be nVidia's flagship card for too long, and that they have another GTX card on their way. Not trying to bash ATI in any way, they've done a good job this round but something tells me nVidia is not done...they've already dropped the price of their 9800GTX to compete with the 4850, and the GTX 260 was released today which is apparently the competitor to the 4870. The GTX 260 is only $100 more, so the price is bound to come down.
released today hell,I got my 4850 delivered yesterday
btw,the 4850's run hot. I got a 4850 because they came out before the 4870's and I was tired of waiting for my new computer to be able to play games.
I recommend that if you get a 4850,definetely get a good cooler for it,they run hot. I'm going to probably get one soon.
You running it on air or gonna get some serious cooling for it?
to be honest, i hope ati beats nvidia. that way, it forces nvidia to drop their prices.
in the end, everyone wins (end user wise)
Air,im too cheap for water
ill prolly get one of these
or of course 2 of them if/when I get enough money for a second card
