used to think they were a pretty kewl company untill today
I went to play a game of CoD4 earlier, after about a minute or so,I went to throw a grenade, which is mapped to one of the side buttons on my VX Revolution mouse. I used SetPoint to map the keyboard key 'g' to my one side buttons, along with other buttons to the mouse functions that games generally wont detect. This used to work good.
I say used to,because, well,my nade button didnt work, neither did anything else not mapped to the 2 main buttons. The little button below my mouse wheel actually minimized the game and brought up a search box.
So,I figure there had to be a problem with SetPoint,I figure my computer booted up without it or something. I opened it up however, and the only part of the software I could use is the useless information tab and update function. So I went digging and found out that a lot of people are having problems with the tabs dissappearing in the Logitech SetPoint software.
A simple reinstall didnt work, nor did uninstalling and using an older version of the software. The problem is appearently linked to a windows system file. I tried everything I read to do to fix it,but it seems Logitech has broke their software in a recent software update. How the hell does a major company like Logitech not check such things in software update development? I think someone needs fired if you ask me...
Since Logitech has broke software, does anyone know of a freeware program that can bind keyboard keys to mouse buttons. I have 2 side buttons,'search' button in the middle and a mouse wheel with tilt scrolling, all of which I had mapped to keyboard keys which I use to play games with.
Never use setpoint to map keys use the games/programs preferences to change them.
Setpoint is more trouble then its worth.
It always worked for me before yesterday
however,I got more buttons than most games will recognize unfortunately, and I want to fully utilize all of the controls of my mouse
Setpoint has never caused me any problems for my G9 Mouse :|
Is the VX Revolution the hardware programmable type (Macros and settings stay on the mouse and work on other PCs without the software installed) or software programmable (Requires software running on the PC to use the extra buttons)
its Software programmable
I used Revouninstaller and tried to reinstall, and now setpoint wont run at all now...
