Default Partition error pls help

Hi, I hv a laptop with a 200gb hdd. It came pre-configured with Vista so I used the disk manager in Vista to create three partitions - (1)Vista boot, (2)XP boot, (3)Media.

I installed Norton Partion Magic on XP and it gv me an error while starting up. Don't remember exactly what it was but I had a which it might be cuz i configured then on Vista. But later I took the risk and clicked on ok. So it did something and everything was fine then. However, when i booted into vista i realised that my media partition was missing and sure enough when i went into the disk manager it shows me the partition but it isnt active. If I try to go to properties it gives me an error.

So now i want to know if there is any way I can recover this partition on Vista.I was going to try a recovery software and see if it works but i dont want to make it worse. Also, I know that I can backup my files from XP (since the partition is fully functional in it) and later use Vista to reformat the same partition but i dont want to waste my time if there is a faster method since its like 40gb of data.

FYI: I use dual boot Vista/XP for personal reasons and also cuz my autocad software doesnt install on vista
Also since its a laptop I cannot put multiple drives hence I am using 3 partions
Vista- 64 bit home premium
XP- 32 bit professional
