Default windows/harddrive install problem

Good morning all..

I have a desktop pc that won't install ANY windows, or any OS other than Linux (Ubuntu is running now).

But at heart I'm a windows user.

I have a copy w/cdkey for winXP pro sp2.

*When I try to install it onto my harddrive, windows does not recognize the harddrive.

Also I bought a new harddrive and tried to install it (using the bios boot and cd the HDD came with.)

For the record it's plugged in right, Ubuntu runs off the HDD in my pc.

Here are some specs if it helps diagnose my problem.

ASUS P5LP-LE mobo

250 Gb RAID/SATA HDD (I'll get the brand/model when I get to my pc again)

I have another 500 Gb Western Digital HDD (That I really want to use)

..................

So does anybody know whats wrong with my pc that windows can't recognize my HDD when other programs can?

It's never been uninstalled from the PC, the HDD that is.
And the new one isn't detected during installation.

ONly LINUX recognizes any of my HDD.

It's driving me crazy!

AFAIK XP SP2 installer doesn't play nicely with SATA drives but there is a way. Google it

You have to slipstream the SATA drivers into the installation ISO of an XP disk.

So I need to create a new ISO disc with all the XP install files plus the sata drivers.

Shouldn't my sys bios take care of that?

I have the actual install disc bought in the store. WinXP sp2. Where should I go from here?
