Default Need help with my new video card.

So I got a brand new GeForce 8400 GS in the mail last week, and didn't get around to installing it until just now.

I got it into my PCI Express slot, I plugged everything back in, I did the add new hardware thing, I installed the drivers from the disk, I updated drivers online, and yet it's still not working. My computer senses that I have the video card in, and I have everything required for the card to work, but it isn't. I'm stuck in this horrible resolution w/ 16 colors thingy, and I can't adjust the colors or the resolution.

What do I need to do?/ What am I missing?

I'm not too knowledgable on the installation processes as my Dad has always done that, but read the manual that came with it to make sure you haven't skipped over anything. Also you have a big enough power supply right (it's a small card so I don't think that will be the problem).

So, system specs? OS?

The card works with my computer fine, I know for a fact. No manual came with the card. I really don't get it- the computer acknowledges that the card is there, and the driver is updated, so there really is no reason for it not to work- unless there's some completely random thing that I don't know about, which is what I suspect.

Nevermind, it finally decided to start working.
